We will start our time at Shepherd of the Hills with a tram ride thru the Christmas lights display, so dress in layers. Shepherd of the Hills is proud to bring you our production, “A Shepherd’s Christmas Carol”. We invite you to enjoy a full-course turkey dinner with pumpkin dessert, while we present our version of a true Christmas classic starring your favorite characters from the story, The Shepherd of the Hills. Our tale catches up with Ollie Stewart several years after losing his sweetheart, Sammy Lane, to his childhood friend and rival, Young Matt Matthews. Join us as Mandy Ford, Uncle Ike, and the rest of the neighborhood attempt to include Ollie in their Christmas festivities. Laugh along, as they try to remind an incorrigible Ollie Stewart of the magic of Christmas and the true meaning of friendship. Starring: Jim O’Heir (Parks & Rec). Struggling writer Leonard Loftus is attempting to win a prestigious writing competition. The only catch is that it’s a feminist publishing house. In order to submit his work, he’s forced to create a feminine alter-ego. And to claim his prize, he must continue the ruse! “WORLD WAR I MUSEUM & MEMORIAL”  RSVP

THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2026 | WORLD WAR I MUSEUM & MEMORIAL - Kansas City, MO

The museum focuses on global events from the causes of World War I before 1914 through the 1918 armistice and 1919 Paris Peace Conference. Visitors enter the exhibit space within the 32,000 square foot facility across a glass bridge above a field of 9,000 red poppies, each representing 1,000 combatant deaths. As of 2025, the museum’s collection includes more than 350,000 items, making it one of the largest World War I collections. Lunch at Stroud’s is included in the cost. Stroud’s was originally a BBQ restaurant until World War II. During the war, because beef was being rationed, Helen Stroud started serving fried chicken. The original chicken dinner was only 35¢. In an attempt to cover his tracks, he recruits one of his nurses to pose as his “wife”. Despite her prickly persona, he finds himself falling for her. Advance reservations are encouraged and will be accepted for all trips. The sooner your reservation is received the better. All trips have a deadline for payment to be received in Lisa’s office. After the deadline, unpaid tickets will be returned. Confirmation letters, with a full itinerary, will be mailed 4-5 weeks prior to departure date.
